This lovely young buzzard came in last week after being found hungry and weak. After a week of feeding, then out to the big avairy to check his flighing, he was ready to be released.
Its always so lovely to get these guys back where they belong and to involve those who found them.

Here we are, the first 2 babies of the season. These little tawny owlets were found on the floor beside a stream, cold and hungry.
Normally we would like these popped back into the nest and monitoring, sadly many factors prevented that from happening on this occasion. So these little guys were brought in, and after a warm night and a good belly fill, they are looking much brighter today and nice and active.

This stunning young man( red kite ) came in yesterday from near Thetford. He has bruising to the right wing but thankfully no broken bones. Here he is having a check over at Toll Barn Veterinary Centre Limited today.

The tawny family is growing. This lil guy came in last night from PACT Animal Sanctuary. It is better to keep babies together to keep them wild rather then singles and run the risk of imprinting them. It is good that us rescues can all work together for the good of these amazing birds.

We got a call this morning about this stunning sparrow hawk who had found his way into the foyer at Morrisons in Fakenham. We nipped out to take a look then called Dan from Marine and Wildlife Rescue who we knew had lovely big catch nets. Dan and one of his team met me there this evening when the shop was quieter and they swiftly captured the lil guy. After a little check over, he was good to go again.
Thank you Dan for assisting us and also pointing us in the right direction for the catch nets, we do get quite a few calls for sparrow hawks who find themselves trapped in warehouses.

And the baby tawny owls have started to branch ❤

Today we had a call about a baby tawny owl found on the floor, as you all know by now, we would rather these little guys be back in thier nest if at all possible. Sadly there wasn't a ladder long enough for this job today, however Gavin, the farm manager had a Telehandler to help get us up to put the baby back in the nest.
The baby had a good tummy full of food so we know that mum had fed them with in the last 12 hours.
With baby back in the nest, Gavin and his family will monitor them tonight to see if mum is around and will call us again if there are any problems.
Where there is a will there is a way 😀

It has been a busy few days. Here are some of the patients that have found themselves needing our facilities. The little kestrel came from near Diss, she was found with a sore wing after last weeks rains. She is looking much better and the wing is now in a good position.
Mrs Tawny was found near Cromer on the side of the road. She has a sore eye but is now eating well.
6 baby tawny owls all coming from various locations and all eating well.
Mrs Barn owl is now out in an avairy and moving around well after being found near Bungay with a suspected break to her wing. Thankfully no breaks but she does have wing weakness.

The first 3 tawny owlets have moved out to the avairy and as you can see, they most certainly can get up to the perches.
These guys will be hacked back to the wild at our new site, I'm sure they will be right at home and will find plenty of food on he 30 acre site.

The build is taking alot of our time between rescues coming in.
We have had 2 more babies go out to their hack avairies, 2 of our lovely volunteers came up on Saturday and helped out in the hospital with 2 more little baby tawny owls.
Whilst on our rounds this evening we came across 1 of the recently hacked tawny owlets on the park, he flew of nice and strong when we got too close.
The kestrel from near Diss is doing well and is in the avairy and the barn owl is getting stronger and will soon head back out.

Yesterday we released the lovely barn owl and the buzzard, sadly we were not able to video the barn owl as I was on my own. However she flew off amazingly, back to where she came from.
This young buzzard was very pleased to be back where he came from, near feltwell.

With tawny owlet season about finished, we move swiftly onto the kestrels. This little one found herself ground at the Sainsbury Centre in Norwich. Sadly no parents were present and the nest was too high to inspect. She had been on the ground for a few days and monitored. Sadly she was very thin and quite hungry when we captured her.

Some of the casualties in over the last few days. Sadly there have been a few who's injuries were fatal. We have also had a few lovely releases.
The little lapwing also made his way back out where he belongs.

This lovely little tawny owl came in today after being found in a chimney, he had been there for a few days sadly. He has had some fluids and a feed and is looking quite perky.
The little barn owl came in over a week ago in a very poor state. Unable to eat for himself or keep any food down.
He spent a week in the TLC unit, keeping a constant temperature so his body could rest and not use any energy. Then slowly, he started to tolerate small feeds. Today he moved out of the TLC unit and ate his meal unaided for the first time.
It is with kind donations like the TLC unit from Sandra Dalzell that help us to give the best to these little guys xx

Good evening to you all. It's been a busy few days. The very poorly barn owl is now perching and will soon be ready to head back out. Sooty the chimney tawny owl is also doing very well and can head back out this week. The little kestrel was found in a water trough, she is doing well and gaining strength again. The Marsh harrier is a little bruised but thankfully has no broken bones and is eating nicely.
The red kite that came in today is very thin but has eaten so should soon be back out with his family, there were 7 kites circling where we collected this little guy from. The buzzard, sadly had a tussle with a lorry, thankfully nothing broken, but he has concussion and bruising but has eaten by himself today. The cheeky little owls are doing great and will head out to their hack avairy later in the week.

The kestrels have moved out to the hack avairy ready to be released in a few days.
The barn owl, red kite, buzzard and marsh harrier have also moved to avairies to get ready for release.
Some of you may remember cloud and bramble, the 2 juvenile bar owls that came in 3 years ago.
They were set up in a beautiful mere where they seem to really like and, for the second year, they have produced young. These little guys have been rung and recorded ❤️

Late baby tawny floofs all waiting for the weather to break so they can go back out to the wild.
It's been a busy year so far and sadly we have had very few shows due to the weather and the move.

A lovely double buzzard release today. Normally we take birds back to where they came from. However, on this occasion, we didn't know where she came from. So we released her with another buzzard that she had been rehabilitating with. They both flew off really well and were both very eager to go back out.
Thank you Sally for finding this young lady and for being part of her release.
